Erin Laetz

Erin  Laetz

Miles of Styles host, Erin Laetz, first began collecting music in the early 2000s, when her love for music began to rapidly grow. She initially turned to her father’s CD and vinyl collection, conveniently located in the garage, and began to become well-versed in Artists like The Flying Burrito Brothers, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones, etc… She later discovered the CD sections at the Malibu and Santa Monica Public Libraries, and began to broaden her taste in musical genres from around the World, making a game out of selecting a random CD or two weekly. Laetz became really interested in global musical traditions while studying Music and Anthropology at Humboldt State University. It was there that she was exposed to Samba, West-African, Calypso, Afro-Cuban, and other Pan-African-influenced musical forms. Laetz’s passion for these types of music has lead her to travel, study, and research them further. She has amassed almost a year’s worth of time gaining hands-on musical experience in Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guatemala. She aspires to continue building connections with Musicians abroad and digging up musical gold wherever she goes. Her library is ever expanding and she hopes to share her favorites here, with you, on 99.1 KBU!
