Ventura County Dreams Of Widening 101 Around Malibu – Yeah, Right

Written by on April 15, 2019

There is no money to pay for it … but Ventura County officials are again trying to widen the 101 Freeway around Malibu.

Text pairs in Los Angeles County have repeatedly approved sales tax increases to fun freeway widening and other metro projects.

But taxpayers in Ventura county have voted against sales tax increases.

This helps explain why the road to Costco is so bumpy in Oxnard.

Nevertheless … Ventura county transportation officials and Caltrans will hold four public meetings this month to talk about widening the 101 freeway.

The plan is to add a carpool lane … and possibly additional auxiliary lanes … along the 101 from Thousand Oaks to Ventura.

The project would cost between 750 million dollars to 2 billion dollars.

There is no money to pay for it.

At best …. construction is not expected to begin for seven or eight years at a minimum.

Nevertheless … public meetingswill be held to gather public comments on different proposed versions of the project, and associated environmental studies.

They will be held in Camarillo, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Ventura.
