Testing Again Today (Fri) At Malibu City Hall – 1,111 Official Deaths Now In LA County

Written by on May 1, 2020

Malibu resumed taking tests for COVID-19 yesterday … any and all people who drove up could have their nasal passages swabbed by a nurse.

At midday … there was no line.

In Los Angeles… there was a miscommunication between the city and county.

L A Mayor Eric Garcetti has announced two days ago that the 34 test centers across the county  would test anyone … symptoms or not.

Turns out … that’s only correct inside the city limits of Los Angeles.

The county is not quite ready to test asymptomatic people …. people who are not sick.

Malibu and the City of Los Angeles are quite unusual in California … with their capacity to test anyone.

We’ve moved way past the situation a moth ago … where only sick people … public safety employees and essential workers could get tests.

California public health officials are urging all low-risk people with the disease … people like young adults with no underlying health conditions — get tests.

Garcetti says the city of L-A testing sites processed 10,000 people on Thursday, triple the number of tests usually done in a day.

The same day, the county sites tested about 4,000 people.

Malibu has capacity for about 250 tests per day.

There are 20,417 confirmed cases of COVD 19 virus in Los Angeles County.

And 1 thousand 111 deaths confirmed deaths from the virus … although the actual death toll may be four times higher than that.

Ventura County has 535 cases and 18 deaths.

Malibu has 30 confirmed cases of the disease.

Unincorporated Santa Monica Mountains… 13 cases.

Agoura Hills 31.

Calabasas 37.

Pacific Palisades has 37.

Santa Monica … 159.

THIS ITEM CORRECTED AT 11:47 TO FIX A BAD HEADLINE – 1,111 DEATHS IS THE OFFICIAL DEATH TOLL, AS NOTED IN THE STORY.
