Tuesday Power Outages Update: 2215 Out Of Power Monday

The county has put out a press release … Latigo Canyon Road will be closed to all traffic from 8 to 3 today.

Southern California Edison needs to block the road with heavy equipment … to string new power lines up the hill.

This will be in the switchback section .. about 1 mile up the hill from PCH.

There could be power outages in the Malibu Bowl area … brief ones.

Over in Malibu Park and the Western Malibu area … Southern California Edison officials tell KB UU news they expect to reconnect to the bulk of the 2300 or so houses that are still blacked out from the fires nearly three weeks ago.

The major transmission stub that we have been telling you about … the Galahad stub … is ready to go back into service today.

It’s the 4 mile long section of 16 kV power lines that come down from the top of the ridge above Malibu to the Point Dume area.

Nearly every blacked out customer in the Woolsey Fire footprint has been reconnected… except for Westrn Malibu.

As of noon yesterday … 2215 customers in western Malibu was still blacked out.

Other customers in western Malibu were getting their electricity from a fleet of diesel generators … brought in by SCE to get the lights on temporarily.

Officials at Malibu high school have been told the school campus Will be reconnected to the main grid today.
