Drati Warns Parents There Is No Plan B, If Measure M Fails

Written by on October 19, 2018

Santa Monica School superintendent Ben Drati has sent a letter to all district parents … but it doesn’t endorse this fall’s Malibu school bond issue.

Drati’s letter carefully avoids campaigning for the bond issue’s passage … that would be a no-no under state law.

But it explains how passage of the measure would upgrade Malibu’s 60-year-old schools for today’s safety and academic requirements.

He notes that Measure M would include school safety and security upgrades and allow critical repairs to outdated plumbing electrical and ventilation systems.

And Drati stresses that not one cent of Measure M money can be taken away by the state.

And he warns that the district does not have any other funding sources to make the repairs and improvements.

The school superintendent carefully avoids campaigning for the bond issue.

But instead encourages voters to … in his words … learn more about Measure M and the impact it will have on our local schools as the election day approaches.
