New RR Bridge For Road To Oxnard Praised By Gov Brown

Written by on May 23, 2018

A handful of dignitaries sat in a wind swept strawberry field yesterday on the road between Oxnard and Malibu.

They were there waiting for the governor.

He was stuck on a late airplane.

But the group in the strawberry fields was happy anyway.

They were there to celebrate the $69 million approved by the California transportation board to build an overpass above the Metrolink tracks at Rice Avenue.

Gov. Brown had been scheduled to appear at the news conference Fountain.

He phoned in … and told reporters from  the Ventura County Star that the project will literally save lives.

Two people have been killed in train versus vehicle crashes at the overpass … on the road between Malibu and Oxnard.

The governor pointed out that’s the red Road overpass is being funded by the state gas tax increase … and he blasted Republicans for trying to overturn the tax at the ballot box.

Quoting now … “Some politicians are running around saying, ‘Let’s roll it back … let’s keep this grade non-separation unsafe and dangerous,’” Brown said. “I don’t think anybody who really looks into the facts would go along with that.”

End quote … from California Gov. Jerry Brown.
