Malibu Canyon Police Agencies Will Speak Sunday at 11

Shootings … body dumps … and shots in the dark.

Malibu Canyon .. the Monte Nido neighborhood … is in full panic.

A man was murdered in his tent … in June … and a car was hit by a bullet a week earlier.

And an L-A street gang has discovered that the isolated mountains are a good place to either kill enemies,.. or dump their bodies.

Are the incidents related???

To say residents are on edge is an understatement.

The Holywood Reporter has published a comprehensive roundup of those incidents … plus a string of shootings two and three years ago that could be related … or maybe are not.

Now … Malibu’s state senator has called a town meeting … to discuss recent crimes in Malibu Creek State Park and action being taken to keep the Santa Monica Mountains safe.

It will be a panel discussion … five overlapping law agencies will have representatives there on stage.

Representatives from the Lost Hills Sheriff Station, California Highway Patrol, California State Parks, the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, and the National Park Service wil be on hand.

Meanwhile … there is a news development …

A Los Angeles-based street gang is responsible for the two bodies discovered recently in Malibu Canyon.

Detective Karen Shonka of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau now confirms reports … reports KBUU broadcast several weeks ago … that 19-year-old Roger Eli Chavez-Barahona died from multiple gunshot wounds in an apparent gang-related shooting..

Detectives are not saying where Chavez-Barahona was killed … if his murder was on the road near Malibu Canyon…. or if that’ssimply where his body was dumped.

His sister tells the Acorn newspaper that he had disappeared July 21st on a trip to the Santa Monica Mountains.

A gang is also believed to have killed 52-year-old Francisco Reynaldo Cruz esewhere … and dumped his body in a drainage ditch next to the Indian temple on Las Virgenes Road

on May 16th.

Detective Shinka tells the Acorn newspaper that “It appears as though that’s a new location for body dumps.

“It happens quite a bit in the Angeles National Forest, but for some reason it appears as though (this gang) has changed locations as far as a dumping ground.”

And the detecive tells the Acorn newspaper that the bdy dumping is not related to the murder of th camper … Tristan Beaudette … while he slept with his two young daughters in a tent at Malibu Creek State Park in June.

“Absolutely not,” the detective tells the newspaper.

The community meeting is Sunday at 11 at King Gillette Ranch … off Mulholland Highway east of Malibu Canyon-Las Virgenes Road … practically within sight of were Tristan Beaudette was murdered.
